Children’s favourite desserts

Trying to get your children to enjoy their food can sometimes feel like mission impossible. That’s because sometimes they will be far from open to trying new tastes or flavors.

This is why it is so important for this process to be handled in the simplest and natural way. The main thing is to try and implement any changes progressively, that adapt to each family depending on their specific needs.

Three fun desserts that you simply have to try

Here, we will give you three alternatives that incorporate healthy ingredients, that almost completely avoid any sugars that can cause so much harm to young organisms.

“Face figures” with oats and white chocolate

There are not many more complete or versatile foods to make desserts with than oats. The best thing is that they are so easy to work with, just follow these steps.

Mix together 100g of oat flakes, 20g of honey and 250ml of milk.

Once the ingredients have been mixed together sufficiently, you can even use your hands to finish off the mix perfectly, make round shapes from the mix into the desired sizes.

These round shapes will be the faces. You will then need to cut away small openings that will become the mouths.

Once the face figures are ready, heat the oven to 220C, and place the faces onto greaseproof paper before putting them into the oven so that they do not stick to the tray.

In approximately 10 minutes, they will be ready. Take out the tray and to finish, decorate them with white chocolate eyes.

As you can see, this is a healthy recipe that can be used as a dessert for either lunch time or dinner time.

Berry volcano cake

Although this may sound like a strange dessert, it is one of the easiest ones to make. All you have to do is follow the steps below to discover amazing results.

The main element to this dessert is a homemade flan.

You can use any brand of flan mix for this dessert but we recommend two things. To begin with, use full-fat milk to get a more complete taste and try to avoid adding sugar by using a stevia sweetener.

Put 250g of strawberry ‘s, 50g of raspberry’s, 50g of cranberry’s, into a blender to mix the fruits together.

Then, all you have to do is pour the fruit mix onto the pre-made homemade flan and it is ready!

By avoiding sugar, and by incorporating fruits that are rich in vitamins and antioxidants like the ones we have chosen, this dessert is fun and also perfect for your health.

Fruit and chocolate ghosts

This is, without doubt, one of the most amusing desserts that exist. You will not require any additional equipment such as the oven, and you can use various different types of fruit, although in this example we have used pears and apples.

Peel the pears and apples that you wish to use.

Using a chopping block and a sharp knife, cut the fruits into squares, and then into shapes that resemble classical ghost shapes.

Use chocolate to decorate the ghosts by making eyes and mouths.

The pieces of fruit that you have cut away can be blended up and formed into a base to help the ghosts remain standing.

This is a perfect dessert to get your children into eating fruit whilst also giving them that chocolate reward that they are always craving.

Having said all of this, it is important to point out that apart from these ideas, there are many others that are equally as good. Just be sure to follow these steps to make sure that your desserts are enjoyable and at the same time, as healthy as possible:

Always avoid excess sugar whenever possible.

When preparing desserts with milk, full-fat milk is best.

When it comes to fruits, try to use the whole fruit as if you squeeze them for juice, you will lose lots of the fibers and a lot of the vitamins.

Be innovative and use ingredients such as oats, red berries and dark chocolate with a high percentage of cocoa.

You are not only looking for your children to begin to feel passionate about healthy foods but at the same time, for them to begin to understand the importance of maintaining their bodies in optimal condition. These habits will keep them in shape, full of energy and will help to prevent any aches and pains in the future.
